Student Teacher Placement Policy (effective January 2024)

Student Teacher Placement in CASE Certified Teacher Classroom

A CASE-certified teacher serving as a cooperating teacher in a pre-service program is responsible for the education of the secondary students taught by a pre-service (student) teacher. Therefore, Pre-service teachers may access and teach CASE curricula under the mentorship and supervision of the CASE-certified teacher during their student teaching placement. The cooperating CASE-certified teacher is responsible for arranging access to the curriculum via print or electronically while under their supervision.

Student teachers cannot teach or utilize any CASE curricula after completing student teaching unless they complete a CASE certification. If the pre-service teacher is found to be using CASE curricula after student teaching, they will be violating copyright and subject to legal copyright implications. If you suspect someone violating the CASE copyright, please contact Carl Aakre for more information. If you suspect someone to be in violation of the CASE copyright, please contact Carl Aakre for more information.

    Finalizing a CASE Pre-Service Certification

Pre-service students completing a CASE Institute before July 1, 2024 must finalize their certification to gain full access to the curriculum. Finalizing their certification allows pre-service teachers to gain lifetime access to the curriculum.

Teachers must fill out the Curriculum Access Request form to finalize their certification.

    • This form initiates invoicing of the entity paying for the finalization.

Teachers are invoiced by the National Council for Agricultural Education (The Council)

    • $970 if they attended the CASE Institute after 2020.

    • $700 before 2020.

    • Once The Council receives payment, the teacher will gain lifetime access to the curriculum in which they are certified.

Pre-service teachers who complete a BriefCASE or have been certified after July 1, 2024, do not need to complete the finalization process.

If they complete the pre-service certification program, they will have lifetime access.

Affiliate institutions are colleges and universities that provide services to CASE teachers and students from their state and many neighboring states. Affiliate institutions host and manage CASE Institute sessions, provide graduate credit to CASE Institute participants, and work with local school districts to promote and enhance CASE courses.

Faculty at an Affiliate institution who want to implement pre-service programming at their college or university can become Affiliate Faculty and CASE certified with no certification cost. Review the CASE Affiliate Institution Policy if you are interested in implementing pre-service programming and becoming an Affiliate Faculty.
